For me, Africa is a land of contrasts: on one hand it is made of fascinating landscapes and people of grace, beauty, and joy. On the other hand, however, it is comprised of huge areas of poverty, hunger, and helplessness.

So when I was asked to join the MyHope team, my answer was a determined, “Yes! Of Course!” Ethiopia is a country that reflects the great contradiction of the entire continent: it is a land of beautiful expanses, ancient monasteries, and beautiful tradition, but it also boasts an illiteracy rate of 50%. It is heartbreaking for me to see that many children and adults are unable to pursue education. In addition, the thought of not having a roof over our heads and no access to clean water is difficult to imagine as a European. With MyHope, I want to be a helpful link between sponsors and sponsored families. This commitment also helps me to expand my own horizons brings me to the most important form of education: the education of the heart.
